6 crew members rescued when Klævtind I from Norway sank
Here at Aflafrettir, we have been following the gilnet boats in Norway, of which there are quite a few.
and the boats there have been classified by length and one of those categories is the category of boats from 15 to 19.99 meters long
in that category, the owner and captain Glenn-Thomas Madsen has been fishing with his boat Klævtind I N-14-A.
He did very well in 2022, and caught close to 1100 tons, all of which were caught in the nets,
now in 2023, the boat started well, yet it had landed a total of 60 tons in 5 trips
They row from Andenes in Northern Norway and on January 9, 2023, they were moving closer to land when they hit a reef
and the reef did make a hole in the boat in the engine room and a lot of sea started to leak into the boat.
Klævtind I had a crew of six on board and a lifeboat from Andenes arrived and saved the boat's crew.
there was no danger, but Glenn said in a conversation with Aflafrettir that the wind was around 20 M per second, yet the mountains over there sheltered the boat.
Glenn said he has owned the boat since 2015 and has been successful in the years he has owned the boat.
when Aflafrettir spoke to Glenn, he was in shock, but said he was going to give it a few days
and then start looking for another boat and continue fishing,
Guðmundur Bjarni Kristjánsson, who is on the net boat Mjasund in Norway, was not far from there and was one of the boats that came
to Klævtind and he took a video which can be seen here in the link below
