8800 tons of iceland Capelin from Norsk ships
It can be said that the capelin season in 2023 has started, but not in the sense that the Icelandic ships have arrived to hunt.
instead, Greenlandic and Norwegian ships have been fishing.
nevertheless, the Norwegian ships have caught a total of almost 8800 tons. and 17 ships have started fishing capelin
in Icelandic sea.
The first ship that arrived here in Iceland was the Birkeland H-87-AV,
Two factories in East Iceland have received capelin from Norwegian ships
Loðnuvinnslan in Fáskrúðsfjörður has received a total of 1800 tons
and Eskja á Eskifjörður has received 3060 tons
so the rest of the Icelandic capelin that has been caught has been landed in Norway and most of it at Nils Sperre AS in Ellingsöy in Norway
or about 1500 tons of capelin
