Akraberg with full ship to The Faroe Islands
In 2022, a brand new freezer trawler arrived in the Faroe Islands, Framherji Company in the Faroe Islands own the trawler.
Samherji in Iceland had a share in that company, but in 2023, Samherji sold its share in Framherji.
This new freezer trawler was named Akraberg FD 10.
It is 84 meters long and 16.7 meters wide and the ship has a 7800 horsepower main engine
The trawler has been fishing quite a bit north in the Barents Sea.
and arrived in the Faroe Islands in early April with a full load og frozen fish
the trawler had a catch of 1118 tons. which was obtained after a 36-day trip.
from the Faroe Islands is a 3-day voyage to the North of Norway, and the trawler went all the way up to 72 degrees latitude
there were 30 fishing days in total, and a daily catch of about 37 tons,
the mainstay of the catch at Akraberg was cod 793 tons
246 tons were haddock
50 tons of saithe
and less of other species,
the trawler went back to fishing in the Barents Sea after the landing and is there now as this is written
