Christina S. Sold to Iceland. New ship is coming
A little while ago, Samherji bought a new pelagic ship from Scotland, which was built there since 2008, and the ship was called
Christina S. and was named Margrét EA 710.
The new ship is quite powerful, was built in 2008 in Norway and is 72 meters long and 14.5 meters wide.
the ship has a pretty big engine, or an 8158 horsepower engine from Wartsila.
There are 13 cooling tanks on board the ship and the ship's carrying capacity is around 2000 tonnes.
The new MArgrét EA does not actually have seining equipment, it has still started fishing for capelin outside Reykjanes, the ship's captain is Hjörtur Valsson who, among other things
has been one of the captains of Vilhelm Þorsteinsson EA.
the new Margét EA was previously produced by a family business in Fraserburgh, Scotland called the Simpson family.
Christina S in Scotland
This family, led by Ernest Simspon, who has been one of the main owners and captains for about 50 years, has owns boats that have all been named Christina S
and now Allan Simpson has taken over as manager and captain
the reason the company sold Christina S to Iceland was that a new ship is currently being built for the company, which will be built at the Karstensen shipyard in Denmark
the new ship will be 77 meters long, 15.6 meters wide and the ship will have a main engine from Wartsila that is about 8300 horsepower
It is estimated that the new Christina S will be delivered in July 2023,
