Lineboat Masilik stranded in Iceland
The liner Masilik got stranded in Ásláksstaðir on Vatnsleysuströnd in Iceland now at 1900
Based on the tow of the boat, the boat was coming from Greenland and had kept a speed of about 10 miles, still at Garðskagavita
then the speed drops in part all the way down to 2 miles, the boat then takes a direct direction across the Faxaflói to the place where
the boat got stranded
there is a 19-man crew on board the boat and the crew will be on board until an attempt is made
to tow the boat from the shore during a flood at 0500 lnext night. The patrol ship Freyja and the tugboat Hamar are on site
Hafnarfjörður. Conditions are good on the beach, some wind is still strong from the shore.
I went to the area there earlier and it was quite sharp and rather difficult to photograph,
The boat is stranded about 500 meters from land.
