Seir M-104-H caught of illegal fishing in Iceland.

There is not much that foreign fishing vessels are involved in illegal fishing here in Iceland

this was very common at the time when the territorial waters around Iceland were extended to 12 miles, 50 miles and 200 miles.

however, this happened now in the middle of April 2023 that the supervisors in the control center of the Coast Guard became aware that a Norwegian liner
was fishing within a restricted area directly from Sandgerði,  There now in April is fishing forbidden

The watch officers contacted the Norwegian boat and the captain on duty admitted that they were fishing,

it was made clear to them that they were hunting in the restricted area and that it was not allowed to hunt there.

The ship was directed to the port and came to Reykjavík and was stopped there for about 7 hours and then went back out to fish out of the Reykjaneshrygg.

for this offense there is a penalty clause and it is not yet known how much the fine is, but it is something around and over ISK 1 million,

The boat in was the autoliner Seir M-104-H . built in 2019

and is 53 meters long, 11 meters wide and measures about 1200 tons in size.

So far this year, the boat has landed 1017 tons in three trips, the most being 429 tons in one trip and the last trip

before Seir came to Iceland, 330 tons were landed.
